💣🎒how do you turn off the ai?

Sam's secret off switch, chatgpt taking more jobs with plugins, and Bill Gates predictions

🚨 Sam Altman, chatgtp3 overlord, accidentally admitted in a podcast with Lex Friendman that he does indeed have a big red off switch for the ai. This fact gives me hope that somebody will be able to find this button and press it before the ai takes over.

OpenAI released plugins, which basically means that they are one step closer to world domination. They do a great job of manipulating this to seem like a good thing, but here’s a few examples of why it’s bad.

  1. 🛫Travel agents are all fired. They already have plugins through KAYAK and Expedia to find things to do in new places and even take actions like booking a flight, all through the ai.

  2. 🛍️Good deals are going to be a thing of the past. With a Shopify and Klarna plugin, everybody is going to be able to find all of the good deals, leaving no good deals for people like us.

  3. 🍔Eating will all be automated. What happened to good old fashioned meal planning and in-person grocery shopping? With Instacart’s new integration, people will just ask the ai to find it a recipe AND it will create an order to have it delivered to their house.

🪟💽My good friend, Bill, from Microsoft, recently told the world about how ai is going to take over your day to day life in a 7-page letter.

“Then there’s the possibility that AIs will run out of control. Could a machine decide that humans are a threat, conclude that its interests are different from ours, or simply stop caring about us?”

Billiam Gates

He calls out the obvious risks with out of control robots, but I think there’s more to the story.

  1. 🧑‍💻The AI personal assistant. Bill predicts a personalized assistant powered by the ai. He says people will use natural language to tell software to accomplish tasks that once required ACTUAL SKILLS, like pointing and clicking.

  2. 🥸Fake news is imminent. Already, we’re seeing fake information coming from the ai. Recently, there have been deepfakes of podcast appearances on Joe Rogan, which they are using to push supplement sales. I admit, I fell for it and bought the supplement, but fed them to my dog once I found out the ai was behind it.

  3. 📉Bill wants balance. This is an absolutely ridiculous take. Coming from a friend, Bill, you really should consider taking this section out. He said, "We should try to balance fears about the downsides of AI—which are understandable and valid—with its ability to improve people’s lives." Improve lives? WHAT? Actually, you know what? I don’t think we’re friends anymore.
